The members of Trinity's World Outreach Committee work to
increase our congregations' awareness of global issues and in turn
how we can positively impact those in need internationally and
domestically. You will find below a listing of some of Trinity's
traditional World Outreach activities. For more information about
any of these projects, please contact Sylvia Stouten, Partner in
Ministry, Discipleship at
sylvia.stouten@tlcgr.org.
- Compassion International: Help children in developing
countries around the world by sponsoring a child. For a nominal
monthly fee, your sponsorship insures critical health care,
regular schooling, Bible teaching, and often even basic food and
water.
- ELCA World Hunger Appeal: On a quarterly basis, Trinity
members are given an opportunity to contribute financially to the
ongoing work of this organization that makes life-saving
differences around the world and close to home through an
integrated and comprehensive program of relief, development,
education and advocacy.
- Fair Trade Coffee Project: We can buy Fair Trade coffee, tea,
cocoa, chocolate bars and handcrafts right here at church. Your
purchase of these products brings employment and stability to
small-scale farmers and artisans in developing regions of the
world and helps them support their families and build their
communities. The Coffee Cabinet, located downstairs outside the
church office, is open on the second Sunday of every month from 8
am to 1 pm. Any profit from your purchase also helps support
Trinity's medical mission in Honduras.
- Habitat for Humanity International: Plans are being made for a
group of Trinity members to help build several homes in Honduras
in the summer of 2008.
- Honduran Missions: Trinity and other Lutheran churches in the
state have a companion relationship with the Lutheran Church of
Honduras. Periodic health mission trips are taken to Honduras to
support our fellow Lutherans there.
- Lutheran World Relief Boxcar Drive: Collection of various
items for worldwide distribution through Lutheran World Relief.
- NEST (Nurturing Environmental Stewardship at Trinity): a group
of Trinity members who work together in an effort to educate the
congregation about ways to become better stewards of God’s
Creation by striving to be more environmentally responsible in our
daily lives.
- Operation Christmas Child: Trinity supports this worldwide
ministry that invites individuals and families to fill a shoebox
with small items (toys, school supplies, etc.) for children in
need throughout the world.
- Pure Water for the World: Trinity is raising money to help buy
water filters for the people of Honduras where there is a huge
need for clean drinking water.
